Roll for mfg. ribbed reinforcing bars - made using abrasion-resistant oxide combined with vibration-absorbing material

Roll for the cold forming of wire into ribbed rod or wire for use as reinforcing bars for concrete etc., where the roll uses >=1 carrier body on which the roll is held by >=1 side thrust-force, exerting radial and/or axial pressure or holding force. The novelty is that the roll is partly or completely made of a matl. such as ZrO2 or an oxide ceramic (Al2O3). The pref. designs include the use of a layer of the oxide min. 0.5 mm thick round the rolling groove, the remaining part of the disc-roll consisting of a mixt. of the oxide and a vibration-absorbing matl., the amt. of the latter being more conc. in the peripheral region of the roll than at its centre. An inexpensive, durable roll which can be made to exact dimensions.
