The bag has a filter opening in the wall furthest from the body and discharging abdominal gases from the bag. This contains a filter element incorporating an odour-absorption agent. A moisture-absorption agent is also included in the element, this typically being incorporated in a first stage of the element and the odour-absorption agent in a second one. Odour-absorption can be by a strip of polymer foam impregnated with active carbon, while super-absorbent particles can provide moisture-absorption.
