NOVEL THIAZOLIDINE COMPOUNDS AND MEDICINAL UTILIZATION THEREOF

Novel thiazolidine compounds represented by general formula (I) or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, wherein (a) represents an indole ring or an indoline ring optionally substituted by lower alkyl or lower alkoxy; Y represents an acidic group, alkoxycarbonyl, hydroxy, etc.; W represents lower alkylene; ----- represents a single or double bond; and A<1> and A<2> are the same or different and each represents a single bond or oxygen, provided that when Y-A<1>- or (b) binds to the 1-position of the indo le or indoline ring, then A<1> and A<2> represent each a single bond. These compounds (I) are useful in treating and preventing diabetes, complication of diabetes, hyperlipemia, etc.
