FIELD: transport engineering; automobile suspensions. SUBSTANCE: ball-and-socket joint includes body consisting of two pats made in form of cups which are interconnected nondetachably. Ball-and-socket joint includes spherical pin enclosed in body whose spherical head surface is embraced by insert made from anti-friction material; space between insert and body is filled with thermoplastic filler. Insert is provided with locking projections over outer surface located in parting plane of body above plane of maximum diameter of pin spherical head perpendicular to its longitudinal axis of symmetry. Insert is sectional in construction. It is formed from upper solid truncated part and lower solid spherical ring coupled together over smooth or stepped surface; it is provided with longitudinal opposing alternating meridian projections and recesses for coupling the components of insert. Sizes of the longitudinal meridian projections correspond to size of longitudinal meridian coupling recesses forming continuous surface of insert; spherical inner surfaces of insert components are smooth; locking projections are located on upper solid truncated and/or on lower solid spherical ring of insert; they have spherical or extended form whose cross section is constant or reducing in length. Length of locking projection Along meridian of insert components is selected at a ratio of 0.06 to 0.36 of diameter of spherical head of spherical pin.
