METHOD OF MANUFACTURING ENCLOSED BATTERY AND ENCLOSED BATTERY

A method of manufacturing an enclosed battery and an enclosed battery, in which productivity can be maintained as high as possible while suppressing crack due to welding by energy beam such as laser beam even in the case where a material such as aluminum alloy is used for outer packaging cans and sealing cap plates. The enclosed battery is manufactured by providing a rib on the sealing cap plate, making an opening edge portion of the outer packaging can thin in wall thickness, and welding the rib to the opening edge of the outer packaging can. Subsequently, a laser beam having an energy distribution with a flat portion is used to weld the sealing cap plate and the outer packaging can to each other to manufacture the enclosed battery. Futher, the sealing cap plate and the outer packaging can are welded to each other while a fusion zone is slowly cooled.
