The electric machine, especially a rotor-type generator with a field winding (24) and a magnet wheel (18) connected to the drive shaft (18), comprises a magnet wheel (19) which is fixed on both sides by a magnet wheel shaft (18). The single-piece drive shaft consists of two parts interconnected by friction welding. The part (18B) forming the magnet wheel is located inside the machine in the magnetic circuit and has good magnetic conductivity. The shaft end (18A) protruding outwards from the drive shat is made of a highly resistant material.
