The invention relates to a control device for the driving motor (11) of a windscreen wiper system. Manually operated control means (18) are provided as a means of modifying a characteristic curve for determining operating data for the driving motor as required, said characteristic curve being dependent on the signal from a rain sensor (15). The manually operated control means (18) convey control commands to an algorithm adaptation control unit in a control circuit (16). Said control circuit generates a new characteristic curve at a modified operating point, the new characteristic curve incorporating the modified operating point. When the switching stage which is dependent on the quantity of rain is activated, the driving motor (11) is controlled according to the new characteristic curve.
