A process is disclosed for rolling a metal strip (1) in a rolling mill train with at least two roll stands. The metal strip (1) has at least two partial regions (3, 4) of different thicknesses interconnected by a wedge-shaped or approximately wedge-shaped transition piece (2). The rolling speed of a roll stand when rolling the wedge-shaped or approximately wedge-shaped transition piece (2) is adjusted depending on the peripheral precession (KSL,i) of the roll stand.
