Method of controlling an internal combustion engine in a weak mixture mode

The method involves activating a device in weak running mode which sets the fuel-air mixture in the combustion chamber into increased motion, and deactivates the device when operation is switched from weak to stoichiometric mode. The fuel quantity is reduced for a definable period (T2) after switching the device on, and increased for a definable period (T1) after switching it off. An Independent claim is also included for an arrangement for controlling an internal combustion engine in a weak mixture mode.
