The drive control unit has a first control unit (21) for computing the vehicle engine control parameters, a second control unit (22) for computing the extend of the throttle valve control and two communicating lines (1,2) for transmitting data between both control units. The second control unit has a system establishing an abnormality in the first line (L1). The first control unit has a system establishing an abnormality in the second line (L2). A second control unit monitoring system, monitors the operation of the second control unit, on the basis of a first throttle valve opening degree signal (T1), if an abnormality is established with both communication lines (L1,L2).
