The system has a sensor for measuring the required parameters, engine speed and fuel injection quantity sensors (31,32), a storage device for the engine speed and fuel injection quantity at the characteristic point, a selection device for certain parameters which stores the engine speed and fuel quantity in a first time period and a computation device for the parameters, which corrects the maximum parameter value for the parameter value at the engine speed and fuel quantity at the equivalent power point. An Independent claim is also included for a method for determining standard value deviations of an internal combustion engine.
