Bandwidth limitation control method for digital data contained in video signal

The method involves storing an arbitrary digital data signal (DS) contained in a vertical retrace gap of a video signal with limited bandwidth. The digital data signal is converted into an intermediate signal (ZS) with a bandwidth reduced for a factor k, and an amplitude resolution increased in such way, that the information capacity of the data signal (DS) is maintained. The digital data signal is stored as the intermediate signal. The digital data signal is preferably re-converted through a digital to analogue conversion, and consists preferably of teletext data.
