Device for purifying mercury-containing flue gas includes a dust filter and an amalgamable material for removing mercury which is regenerable outside the device. A device for purifying a mercury-containing flue gas comprises a dust filter and a regenerable amalgamable material for removing the mercury in an amalgamated state, the material being regenerable outside the device. The material is preferably either an amalgamable metal provided in the filter housing, preferably copper, silver or gold, or an inorganic amalgamable material, preferably a composition of titanium dioxide and vanadium pentoxide.
