The operating process supplies a first part mass of gasoline to a cylinder cavity giving a compression ratio of over 12:1 and without ignition plug in an amount sufficiently low to avoid detonations. The second part mass of gasoline is introduced into the combustion chamber in the region of TDC in combination with exhaust products from the combustion of the first part mass, so that it burns with little ignition distortion. The engine has a fuel supply device (7) which can dose the two part masses of gasoline in a set timed sequence into the combustion cavity (5) of the cylinder (2). |
