In a method for editing recorded information having a format that both a video (picture) signal and an audio (sound) signal are recorded on a recording medium in a combination form, the recorded information is reproduced (102); a detection (103) is made as to whether or not a predetermined condition is produced in the audio signal of the recorded information which is reproduced; discriminating information indicative of an editing position is produced based on such a position that the predetermined condition in the recorded information is detected; and then this discriminating information is displayed (107) on a screen of a display apparatus. A storage medium for storing a program code read/executed by a computer, stores therein a first section for storing therein a program code of precedure used to detect as to whether or not a predetermined condition is produced in an audio signal while reproducing recorded information containing a video signal and an audio signal related to this video signal; and a second section for storing therein another program code of procedure used to produce discriminating information indicative of a position where a predetermined state in the recorded information is detected, and also used to display this discriminating information on a screen of a display apparatus.
