Nanodisperse titanium dioxide, process for its preparation and its use

A nano-dispersed titanium dioxide has a maximum particle size distribution, determined by an ultracentrifuge, of 1-10 nm, less than 0.1 wt.% carbon in the form of organic compounds or residues, and transparency at least 99%, determined in a 5 wt.% aqueous HCl solution of 400-700 nm in 180 degrees/d-geometry in a layer of thickness 10 mu m.
