<p>The equipment being protected is connected to the spark gap through conductors (1602) which are joined to contact arms (1102) by riveting or soldering (1609). The contact arms (1102) separated by an insulated distance piece (212) deform during arcing due to electromagnetic force and/or bimetallic action. The deformation tends to extinguish the arc and is assisted by a deflector (190).</p> |
