PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new isolated polynucleotide having high identity with a nucleic acid coding for lspA polypeptide of a specific amino acid sequence, and usable e.g. in the screening of antibacterial compounds, treatment or diagnosis of Streptococcus bacteria infections. SOLUTION: This new isolated polynucleotide containing a polynucleotide sequence includes a polynucleotide having >=70% identity with a polynucleotide coding for a polypeptide containing an amino acid sequence of the formula and a polynucleotide having >=70% identity with a polynucleotide coding for the same mature polypeptide as that expressed by lspA gene contained in Streptococcus pneumoniae as a deposited strain; The above new isolated polynucleotide is usable e.g. in the screening of antibacterial compounds, treatment or diagnosis of Streptococcus bacteria infections, and obtained by probing a Streptococcus pneumoniae 0100993-derived chromosome DNA library with a radiolabeled partial sequence. |
