PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cermet tool excellent in heat crack resistance while maintaining plastic deformation resistance and wear resistance and further having long service life even intermittent cutting, etc. SOLUTION: A cermet tool 1 contains, by weight, 4-20%, in total. of Ni and/or Co, 50-60% Ti, 30-40%, in total, of V, Cr, Zr, Nb, Mo, Hf, Ta, and W, 5-10% C, and 3-8% N. Further, a carbonitride phase contains grains of Ti carbonitride type phase where Ti comprises >=90 wt.% of metallic components in the phase. Moreover, when the cross sectional structure of the cermet is observed, the proportion of the total area of grains, among the grains of the Ti carbonitride type phase, where the value of a ratio between the maximum diameter Dmax and the minimum diameter Dmin, Dmax/Dmin, becomes >=1.5 to the whole area of a hard phase is regulated to >=50% in the structure. |
