PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the seizure resistance, corrosion resistance, wear resistance or the like of a bearing by applying gold-cobalt plating on a bearing metal. SOLUTION: A bearing metal 3 is applied with gold-cobalt alloy plating of 0.03 to 0.50μm contg., by weight, <=5% cobalt. Since this plating layer is high in the m.p., its heat resistance is improved. Thus, even in the case a fretting phenomenon occurs on the space between the faces in which bearing housing 1 and the bearing metal 3 are mutually brought into contact, there is no states that the plating layer is melted to be softened and a waving phenomenon occurs. Moreover, the thermal conductivity from the bearing metal 3 to the bearing housing 1 is improved, by which heat radiation from the bearing housing 1 can be increased to prevent the generation of seizure caused by the rapid increase of the temp. at the inside of the bearing metal 3 supporting a journal 2A of a shaft 2. By the excellent corrosion resistance of the plating layer, the progress of the oxidizing degree caused by the increase of the temp. of lubricating oil and corrosion caused by hydrogen sulfide, sulfuric acid and combustion gas can be avoided.
