PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an aluminum alloy foil practically free from macroscopic and microscopic stripe patterns at the roll rolling surface and mat surface and excellent in foil rollability. SOLUTION: This method includes the following two heating stages: (1) A primary heating stage where a cold rolled sheet of continuously cast and rolled plate of an Al-Fe-Si type aluminum alloy, having a composition which contains, by weight, 0.3-1.2% Fe and >0.20-1% Si and in which Si/Fe is regulated to 0.4-1.2 and also having a structure which is composed practically of a single phase ofα-AlFeSi, is subjected to heat treatment for the acceleration of an Al-Fe compound by means of holding at 350-<450 deg.C for >=0.5 hr; (2) A secondary heating stage where, after the primary heating stage, the sheet is subjected to heat treatment for the acceleration of precipitation of an Al-Fe-Si compound by means of holding at 200-330 deg.C for >=0.5 hr.
