PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coating compsn. which is excellent in deodorizing capability and antimicrobial action by compounding an inorg. compsn. contg. a photoreactive semiconductor with a crystalline zinc silicate compd. or aluminum- contg. zinc phyllosilicate or a silicic composite thereof and with a precipitate contg. a metal hydroxide or phosphate. SOLUTION: This compsn. is prepd. by compounding an inorg. compsn. (A) contg. a photoreactive semiconductor with a crystalline zinc silicate compd. (B) or a silicic composite (B) of aluminum-contg. zinc phyllosilicate comprising, in terms of oxide, 5-80 mol.% SiO2 , 5-65 mol.% ZnO, and 1-60 mol.% Al2 O3 in a wt. ratio of A/B of (10/90)-(90/10) and further with a hydroxide (C) of a metal selected from among Co, Ni, Zn, and Cu or a phosphate (C) of a metal selected from among Ti, Zr, and Sn in an amt. of C of 1-50 wt.% of the sum of A and B. The photoreactive semiconductor is particles of TiO2 , ZnO, or the like having particle sizes of 0.01-0.5μm and surface-coated with an inorg. substance (e.g. silica gel).
