PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer ribbon in which both transfer of so- called sublimable dye and transfer of thermally transferable ink can be carried out in one process and efficiency of operation is improved and further alignment is facilitated. SOLUTION: Both a sublimation transfer layer 2 containing sublimable, vaporing or hot-melt migrational dye and a thermally transferable ink layer 3 containing a coloring agent are alternately provided in the longitudinal direction of a ribbon on a heat resistant base material 1, and in the sublimation transfer layer 2, either resin of polyvinyl butyral or polyvinyl acetal which contains a crosslinking material of polyvinyl alcohol as a main component is used as a binder. Molecular weight of these resins favorably is 10,000-80,000. |
