PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the viscosity higher than that of a fiber phase by forming a spindle shaped polymeric aluminosilicate having specific length, max. width and ratio (length)/(the max. width). SOLUTION: The spindle shaped polymeric aluminosilicate having 10-100μm length L, 2-20μm max. width T and the ratio L/T of 2-10 and expressed by the formula; Alx Siy Oz (x/y=1-3, z represents 1-10) is provided. The aluminosilicate is formed by adjusting an alkali aq. solution of a hydrolyzable Al compound such as AlCl3 and a hydrolyzable Si compound such as Si(OCH3 )4 to pH 4-6.5 while keeping the Al concentration to 5×10<-4> -10<-2> M and the molar ratio Al/Si to 1-3, allowing the resultant mixture to react in the presence of a silanol group and holding for a prescribed time at <100 deg.C. The solution is concentrated until the concentration of Al+Si reaches about 1.5 g/L, forming into two phases by decantation and the aluminosilicate containing >=90 wt.% spindle shaped one is obtained from the upper phase.
