PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply provide an appropriate moisture content in the initial composting period and shorten the composting period by immobilizing microorganisms in a microbial group having the composting properties of an organic waste in a dormant state in a coffee bean pulp and regulating the moisture content thereof at a specific value or below. SOLUTION: One or more selected from bacteria, fungi and actinomyces are used as a microorganism useful for composting and the moisture content of a coffee bean pulp in which the microorganisms are immobilzed in a dormant state is regulated to <=15 wt.%. The coffee bean pulp which is a raw material is a residuum after extracting components therefrom independent of the production area and grade. The grain diameter is regulated within the range of 1-10 mm, preferably 2-5 mm. A composting accelerator is prepared by growing a microbial species in a nutrient culture medium such as an L culture medium, a bouillon culture medium or the like, then forming spores or adding a drying protecting agent such as a skimmilk or glycerol, as necessary, drying the resultant mixture, adding the coffee bean pulp or the like. The concentration of the microorganisms in the composting accelerator is >=10<3> microorganism/g, preferably >=10<5> microorganisms/g based on the dry weight.
|
