The invention relates to a drive authorization system, especially for motor vehicles, comprising a recognition device which can be electronically coded and is firmly fixed to said vehicle, in addition to an external release device, whereby at least one device specific to said vehicle can be released upon recognition of said release device. According to the invention, the recognition device comprises a receiving device (10) which forms a receiving area (14) into which the release device (36) can be inserted in such a way that it can be released but cannot be lost and which has at least one actuating device (30) which can be triggered by the release device (36) and actuates at least one switching means (40,44) used to recognise the position of the release device (36) and/or triggering communication with the release device (36). The receiving area is formed by a blind opening in the base body (12). The contour thereof when seen from a cross-sectional point of view, is adapted to accommodate various-shaped release devices (36). |
