A flexible disc drive having a standard head for accessing standard tracks spaced specified intervals is provided with an additional head having a gap whose width smaller than the interval of the standard tracks so as to access the parts between standard tracks as additional tracks. Mutual interference is prevented by setting the recording carrier frequency for the additional head higher than that for the standard head. The capacity can be increased while maintaining the compatibility with a standard drive. |
