METHOD AND DEVICE FOR MOUNTING OF A SEABED INSTALLATION

A method for mounting a seabed installation comprising a drilling template (22) and a manifold (32) for use, e.g., in extracting hydrocarbons, on a mooring device (2) which is anchored to the seabed. The mooring device comprises an upwardly open guide boring (20). The drilling template (22) and the manifold (32) are arranged to be suspended separately in a string (10) which extends from an offshore platform, and to be lowered therefrom by means of the string (10). When the drilling template (22) is lowered, it can be inserted in the guide boring (20). The manifold (32) can then be suspended in the drill string. The method according to the invention comprises the steps of lowering the manifold (32) and inserting a thereto connected central guide post (36) which projects down from the manifold, in a vertically extending, upwardly open guide hole (38) of the drilling template (22). Thereafter, during the introduction of the central guide post (36) in the guide hole (38) interacting sections of the central guide post (36) and the guide hole (38) respectively are made to cause an alignment of the manifold (32) in a fixed rotational position relative to the drilling template (22) during the introduction and before the manifold comes into contact with the drilling template (22). Finally, the manifold is lowered relative to the guide post (36) after the contact thereof in the guide hole (38). In the method no use is made of guidelines which extend from the plaform to the seabed. A device for implementing the method.
