<p>A method for reducing the amount of saturated fatty acids, reducing the ratio of saturated to unsaturated fatty acids in muscle tissue, for decreasing the amount of total fat, and for increasing the growth rate and feed efficiency of domestic animals is described. The method comprises elevating the level of the amino acid L-Dihydroxyphenylalanine (L-DOPA) in the bloodstream of the domestic animal so as to achieve the desired alteration in body content and/or feed efficiency.</p> |
