The present invention is a liposuction cannula having a water source, a laser source, and a suction source. Water is released into an active area (14) within the cannula, and laser energy is directed onto the water molecules (WM) within the active area (14) to energize the water molecules (WM). The energized water molecules (WM) escape from the active area (14) into the surrounding fatty tissue (FT) to break down the fatty tissue (FT), and release liquid fatty material that is removed by aspiration via the cannula.
