<p>A muffler assemby (10) includes an elongated casing (15) having an inlet opening (12), an outlet opening (13), and a partition assembly including a conically converging, perforated, dispersion shell (33) and a transversed wall (45). A perforated retaining shell (17) is provided positioned internally of the casing radially outwardly of the dispersion shell (33). An outer fiberglass layer of material (20) is positioned in the cavity (18) between the casing wall (15) and the retaining shell (17), and an inner ceramic layer of thermally insulating material (21) is positioned in the cavity (18) to thermally insulate the fiberglass layer (20) from the hot exhaust gases.</p> |
