The automatic window operating system consists of an electric motor, supplied by batteries, and a threaded drive shaft and ball-nut, controlled by one or more individual, or central, sensing elements for wind, rain, temperature, noise or smoke. The system may be manually over-ridden if required. An electric motor (7) is energised by batteries (8) and controlled by an electronics package (10) when a signal is received from a sensor (9). The threaded drive shaft (5) rotates in one direction or the other, depending upon whether the window is to be opened or closed. A corresponding nut (6) and operating member (11) are driven back or forth to close or open the window frame (1). A sprung coupling (4a) may be released for manual operation. Multiple sensing elements for different conditions may be used for each window, or a central sensing complex may operate multiple windows. |
