A photorefractive device has an optically active zone (30) located between two reflectors (20, 60) to form an optical cavity of tunable length. Preferred Feature: One of the reflectors (60) is located on a suspension bridge so that the cavity length can be regulated by an electric field, the bridge being formed by etching a sacrificial layer (40) between different semiconductor layers, i.e. the active zone (30) and the reflector (60).
