The arrangement has a displacement transfer mechanism (16,17,18,25,26) which connects the crank cam (15) to the valve-activating cam (20). The transfer mechanism has a position for maximum lift, in which the tilting movement of the valve cam is limited to a first range, and encompasses a position for minimum cam lift, in which the tilting movement is limited to a second range. The valve gear, driven by the cams, has an arrangement of pins and swivels.
