Safety valve for pipeline

A safety valve e.g. for a gas pipe line, has the inlet and outlet stubs at right angles and with a valve spindle through the knee of the body. The end of the spindle carries a valve sealing element (2) on a spring loaded mounting. If the gas flow exceeds a set level the gas pushes the spring loaded valve element into the sealing position. The valve spindle is also fitted with a second spring and a plug a low melting point material, which melts in a fire and releases the second spring to close the valve.
