Mold opening and closing mechanism incorporating a rotary drive

A mold opening and closing mechanism for an I.S. machine has a plurality of individual sections each comprising a section frame having a top wall (94). A pair of mold support mechanisms are supported above the top wall of the section frame for linear displacement by a motor (66) secured to the top wall. The motor is connected via a rotary output (67) to a rotary to linear transmission (70, 72, 74) supported above the top wall of the section frame horizontally adjacent the mold support mechanisms to linearly displace the latter mechanisms.
