Beneath the grate lining the feed and/or evacuation of cooling water to and/or from the movable grate rows occurs via pipe conduits (3) which are also movable. The pipe conduits in the lower ventilation area (5) of the grate are connected via support constructions (6) with the movable grate slides (11). Slots are provided through which the pipe conduits (3) are fed outwards and are sealed by a disc (4) which moves with the pipe conduits against penetration of dirt from the lower penetration area.
