<p>The proposed braking capacity limiter, particularly of rail vehicles, is based on automatic reduction of vehicle brake effectiveness by reduction of air pressure within a brake cylinder during service braking under vehicle load exceeding 14.5 tons per axle. In the limiter body (1), there are arranged passages of compressed air distribution system and a differential piston (3) with a starting spring (14) and a double valve (4) for controlled interconnecting and closing compressed air passage from compressed air inlet passage (6) into brake cylinder inlet passage (9) and discharge of air from the brake cylinder into atmosphere through an exhaust passage (8) in dependence on position of a change-over piston (5) adjoining said differential piston (3). Spaces (10, 11) below both the pistons (3, 5) are permanently interconnected by a passage (7) of control pressure air from the distributor. Space above the change-over piston (5) is connected via a controller (2) to said inlet control pressure air passage (7) in order to set the end of a continuous transition from the limiter reduced pressure characteristic to original one without limitation of the brake effectiveness.</p> |
