PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the number of components of an image forming apparatus, to attach an image reading device to the image forming apparatus by a simple structure and to provide the image forming apparatus, the image reading apparatus, the attaching structure thereof and a method for using the apparatus each functioning adequately and being superior in reliability. SOLUTION: A fan motor 42 is attached to a side face section of an image scanner 30 and a cooling fan side wind passage 41 for a wind generated by the fan motor 42 is provided. A heating section side wind passage communicating to a heating section is provided to a laser beam printer 1. When the image scanner 30 is attached to the laser beam printer 1, both of the wind passages are coupled with each other and a passage from the fan motor 42 to the heating section of the printer 1 can be formed so that the cooling of the heating sections of the image scanner 30 and laser beam printer 1 can be executed by the fan motor at the same time. |
