摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain a thin profile by arranging a speed detecting magnet which is provided in the periphery of the rotor of a driving motor for rotating a recording medium, and a carriage movable relatively against a jacket, in which a recording and reproducing head is retained and in which a recording medium is stored, in the manner that they are mutually superposed in the thickness direction of a driving device. SOLUTION: A motor base plate 81 for holding a disk driving motor M1 is attached to a frame 2, and a motor M1 is arranged inside the opening 3 of the frame 2. The upper face 90c of a rotor 90 is designed to be slightly lower than the upper face 2d of the frame 2, preventing the interference of the rotor 90 with a jacket J containing a disk D. The lower carriage 51 is arranged outside in the radial direction of the rotor 90, eliminating its superposition on the carriage even if the carriage 51 is moved to the innermost circumference of the disk D. The speed detecting magnet 93 is partly superposed on the lower carriage 51, but is designed to be thin so as to impart no effect. As a result, the thickness can be reduced from the lower face of the motor base plate 81 to the upper face 90c of the rotor 90.
