PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify focusing by detecting a focus signal indicating the degree of focusing on an object, calculating a focus evaluation value signal for the target object based on the detected focus signal, converting the calculated evaluation value signal into a signal in a format to be easily checked by a display monitor, multiplexing the converted signal with a video signal and displaying the multiplexed signal on the display monitor. SOLUTION: This image pickup device is provided with an image pickup lens 1, an image pickup element 2 for converting an optical image formed by the lens 1 into an electric signal, a signal processing part 5 for converting the electric signal outputted from the element 2 into a video signal, a focus signal detection part 8 for outputting a focus signal indicating the degree of focusing on an object, an evaluation value signal arithmetic part 9 for computing an evaluation value signal indicating the degree of focusing on the target object by the output signal from the detection part 8 and a monitor synthesis part 10 for superposing the evaluation value signal from the arithmetic part 9 to the video signal and outputting the superposed signal to a display monitor. |
