摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To send each optical signal at an optical output level which is optimum to respective wavelength by adjusting a transmission optical output level of an optical signal having plural different wavelength bands to be sent through wavelength multiplex for each wavelength. SOLUTION: This transmitter consists of a transmission system 2 having plural transmission sections 2a, 2B that generate and transmit optical signals with at least different wavelength bands λ1, λ3 (hereinafter to be called optical signals λ1, λ3), plural optical amplifier sections 4A, 4B that amplify the optical signals λ1, λ3 respectively, a wavelength multiplex section 11 that applies wavelength multiplex to the optical signals λ1, λ3 after amplification and an optical output level control section 13 that controls the optical output level of the optical signals λ1, λ3 that are outputted to the optical transmission line 12 through the wavelength multiplex section 11 by changing individually the amplification factor of the optical amplifier sections 4A, 4B for each of wavelength bands λ1, λ3.
