PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synchronizer equipped with a self-boosting means and a limiting means for self-boosting amount. SOLUTION: A pin type complex motion synchronizer 18 is equipped with friction clutches 22 and 36/24 and 38, jaw clutches 26 and 30/28 and 31, a shift flange 42, a self-boosting ramp mounted on a shaft 12, and a self-boosting ramp furnished on a self-boosting member 34. By engagement of the ramp, an additional axial direction force is obtained, which increases the engaging force of the friction clutches. The self-boosting member 34 is fixed in such a way as sliding together with the flange and jaw members 30 and 31. The self-boosting member 34 is coupled resiliently by a force-limiting detent assembly so as to rotate with the flange until the synchronous torque attains the specified quantity. When the specified torque is attained, the force-limiting assembly rotates the flange to put the stopper in engagement, and the torque exceeding the specified quantity is all sent to the shaft 12 in parallel with the self-boosting ramp. |
