摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic tape capable of executing servo tracking without decreasing the area of a data area. SOLUTION: This magnetic tape is formed by constituting a back-coating layer 5 as a magnetically recordable layer which is previously magnetically formed with >=3 pieces of servo tracks 10a to 10c parallel with the longitudinal direction of the tape. The coercive force of the back-coating layer 5 is made higher than the coercive force over the entire part of all the layers on the magnetic layer side and the saturation magnetic flux density thereof is made lower than the saturation magnetic flux density over the entire part of the all the layers on the magnetic layer side.
