PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the surface roughness of a large area machined by electric discharge. SOLUTION: This device has a direct current power source 2 for supplying a machining current, a current-limiting element 3 connected in series to the direct current power source 2 and for limiting the machining current to not more then 2A, a switching element 4 connected in series to the direct current power source 2 and the current-limiting element 3, and a series circuit comprising an inductance 7 of 20 to 50μH and a condenser 8 of 0.001 to 0.02μF which are arranged in parallel to a machining gap.
