PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain resin particles which are highly reactive even at a low temperature and in an aqueous medium by incorporating a certain vicinal glycol group into resin particles having a certain average particle size. SOLUTION: A certain vicinal glycol group represented by the formula is incorporated into resin particles having an average particle size of 1-100μm. In the formula, R1 to R3 are each H or a 1-4C alkyl. The resin particles are preferably an acrylic emulsion prepared by emulsion polymerization, for example, those prepared by emulsion polymerization in water of styrene, methyl methacrylate, 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, 2,3-dihydroxypropyl methacrylate, acrylic acid and acetoacetoxyethyl methacrylate in the presence of an anionic surfactant. The resin particles are useful in fields of paints, inks, adhesives or the like as binders, rheology control agents, extenders or additives for improving their physical properties.
|
