PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize and reduce weight of a liquid crystal display device by loading a light emitting diode chip on a prescribed position of a stick-out part on one end side of a transparent substrate so that light from its light emitting diode faces from one end surface of the other transparent substrate toward its inside. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display element 1 is constituted by overlapping two sheets of transparent substrates 2, 3 made of glass, etc., while sealing a liquid crystal 4 between them. Then, the stick-out part 5 sticking out from one end surface 3a of the other transparent substrate 3 to the outside is integrally provided on one end part of one side transparent substrate 2. Then, the light emitting diode chip 8 is loaded on a part adjacent to one end surface 3a of the other side transparent substrate 3 in the surface of the stick-out part 5 of one side transparent substrate 2 so that the light from the light emitting diode chip 8 faces from one end surface 3a of the other side transparent substrate 3 toward its inside, and on the other hand, a reflection plate 9 is provided on the other end surfaces of both transparent substrates 2, 3. |
