The additional metal, M, in the catalyst is introduced in the form of an organometallic complex soluble in an aqueous solvent. The hydrogenation is effected in the presence of a catalyst comprising a support, a group VIII metal and a metal M chosen from Ge, Sn, Pb, Re, Ga, In, Au, Ag or Tl.M is introduced in the form of an organometallic compound comprising at least one C-M bond, in an aqueous solvent. Independent claims are also included for the preparation of the catalyst and its use. |
