MANUFACTURING SILVER FROM SILVER SULFIDE BY REACTIONS WITH NITRATES AND NITRITES OF ALKALI METALS

Method of production of elementary silver (Ag) from the silver sulphide (Ag2S) by oxide-reduction reactions with alkali metals nitrates or nitrites is based on the following reactions: Ag2S + 2MeNO3 --> 2Ag + Me2SO4 + 2NO; Ag2S + 2MeNO2 --> 2Ag + Me2SO4 + N2, wherein Me is alkali metal (Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs) in the extent of reaction temperatures from 300 C to 1000 C.
