<p>The invention concerns a telecommunications system consisting of a plurality of parallel working units (working unit 1, 2, 3), which are connected to the user interfaces (user interface 1, 2, 3) assigned to the working units by a passive wiring system (back-plane system), and at least one protection unit which is connected by controlled switching means is provided, and in the event of failure of at least working unit, the protection unit assumes the function of the failed working unit.
